Ajman Tourism heads to WTM with new strategies to increase arrivals from UK by 20%
Focus is to promote the finest of the emirate’s hotels, resorts, cultural and heritage attractions
Ajman, UAE (November 2, 2016) – Armed with new marketing strategies aimed at attracting more visitors from the UK market and increase arrivals by 20% in 2017, the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) is all set to attend the World Travel Market (WTM), one of the world’s largest trade fairs, happening on November 7 to 9 at ExCeL – London.
The delegation will focus on promoting the finest of the emirate’s hotels, resorts, cultural and heritage attractions including the Al Zorah Golf Club and the soon to open 5-star beach resort, The Oberoi Al Zorah. There will be a big screen showcasing these places for visitors to gain insight of what to expect when visiting the emirate.
The ajman.travel destination website will be highly publicized during the three-day exhibition to generate more traffic to the website. To reflect Ajman’s great heritage, there will be museum set-up including a corner for henna painting where visitors and participants can experience traditional henna art.
The drive to attract UK tourists to Ajman will be the key objective of the delegation especially when holidays abroad have become more expensive for British holidaymakers with the exit of Britain from the European Union last June. With the plunging British pound and the expected downturn in Britain’s economy, there will be an anticipated cut in the number of travellers from UK to the UAE and beyond.
HE Faisal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of ATDD, said: “Our top priority is to increase the number of visitors to Ajman in 2017 and since the UK market is one of our major contributors, our presence at World Travel Market is very important. Last year, we registered 115,000 room nights from the European market and we plan to increase that by 20%, an ambitious target but we are confident that by strengthening our existing relationships with agents and tour operators and establishing a wider network, we will achieve this.”
The delegation will seek to enhance cooperation with major tourism operators in UK to promote the tourism sector in Ajman and boost its competitiveness on a global level. “Our strategic plan which is part of the Ajman Vision 2021 lays out a roadmap for Ajman Tourism to build, enhance and sustain its strategic performance for all stakeholders and partners. We will inform our partners that we have sufficient and substantial capabilities to support our strategic initiatives for the coming years,” said Al Nuaimi.
The Ajman delegation will include Ajman Saray, Fairmont Ajman, Sabsan Travel & Tourism, Musandam Sea Adventure Travel & Tourism and Travel Center, SNTTA Emir Tours and The Oberoi Al Zorah.
The ATDD stand is located in Hall S4, stand# ME550.
