BEST TIME OF YEAR
All year round
Bordered by Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain, and just 40 kilometres from Dubai, Ajman makes an easy day trip if you’re staying in another emirate. Spend a day exploring the sights and sounds of Ajman city – from history and culture, to shopping in the souqs and dining at the picturesque golf club.
12-24hrs
With a 16-kilometre stretch of beach along the Arabian Gulf, Ajman city is the coastal capital of the emirate of Ajman.
Start your day exploring life as it once was at Ajman Museum, where exhibits range from archaeological treasures dating back thousands of years to those detailing Ajman’s more recent pearling past.
Wander over to the nearby Traditional Souq to shop for souvenirs and traditional clothes, before buying something special at the glittering Gold Souq.
Next, make your way over to the Corniche and stop for lunch at Qdemk Ndemk, a cool café opposite the Fairmont Ajman Hotel serving excellent Emirati cuisine.
Take a post-lunch stroll along the palm-dotted boulevard, soaking up the sea air.
Then take a taxi to Al Zorah Golf Club, set among natural mangroves in a new development to the north of the city that will eventually include marinas, hotels and residential villas.
Opt for afternoon tea, or dinner and drinks at Shakespeare and Co., which has floor to ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace overlooking the mangroves. The homegrown restaurant features plush Victorian era décor and a diverse menu of international fare, as well as French pastries, chocolates and ice creams.
