BEST TIME OF YEAR
All year round
While Ajman is a popular weekend escape for residents of the region, if you’re visiting from further afield, you’ll soon discover that there’s plenty to keep you occupied. During a five-day visit you can easily experience all the best the city has to offer and explore the rugged landscape of Masfout.
Day 1
Check-in to Fairmont Ajman, the emirate’s newest five-star hotel set on 200 metres of prime beachfront. Unwind after your journey with a dip in the sea or the infinity pool overlooking the beach.
Get a feel for the city with an evening stroll along the Corniche, the hub of local life where families come to promenade and enjoy beach picnics.
Wander back to your hotel and dine on authentic Turkish cuisine in a stylish Ottoman-inspired setting at Kiyi, or delicious wood-fired pizzas, pastas and traditional Italian dishes at Gioia.

Day 2
After a laidback breakfast, ask the concierge to organise a driver or hire car so you can visit Masfout, a 90-minute drive southeast of the city. Surrounded by the Hajar Mountains, the sleepy enclave is ideal for walking and mountain biking.
Explore Masfout on two wheels, riding past Masfout Castle, a 19th-century defensive structure made of mud brick, before stopping for a picnic lunch by the reservoir.
Leave Masfout at around 4pm and you’ll be back in time for sunset drinks by the pool at Salt & Sea, or on the terrace of Badr Lounge with terrific views of the Arabian Gulf.
Take your pick from eight restaurants and lounges at Fairmont Ajman, or walk down to the Corniche, which has plenty of casual restaurants to choose from. Themar Al Bahar seafood restaurant is a local favourite.
Finish your evening with a fun game of ten-pin bowling at Cosmic Bowling at Kempinski Hotel Ajman, a 500-metre stroll from your hotel.

Day 3
After breakfast, make your way over to Ajman Museum, a 15-minute stroll away in the Al Bustan neighbourhood. Once the home of Ajman’s rulers, the 18th-century fort has been converted into a museum documenting life as it once was in the emirate.
When hunger strikes, stop by Ligma & Yighma near Ajman University. This trendy café serves Emirati dishes that are made for sharing, along with wraps, smoothies, coffee and sweet treats.
Next, take a City Sightseeing bus tour around Ajman and neighbouring Sharjah, taking in sights such as Ajman Fish Market and Sharjah’s Al Noor Mosque and Central Souq. Your ticket is valid for 24 hours and you can hop-on and hop-off as much as you like.
As twilight falls, take a taxi to Sheikh Zayed Mosque on Al Ittihad Street to take some atmospheric photos of one of Ajman’s most stunning landmarks.
Then head to the Corniche for a casual dinner, or opt for more upmarket Indian, Italian or Chinese fare at Kempinski Hotel Ajman.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, walk next door to The Ajman Palace and pull up a table on the terrace at the all-day dining restaurant. It has an international buffet and Mediterranean influenced dishes, along with lovely sea views.
Back at Fairmont Ajman, retreat to a sun lounger by the infinity pool leading down to the beach. The pool also has a great swim-up bar serving refreshing mocktails and classic cocktails.
When the sun sets, jump in a taxi to Al Zorah Golf Club, part of an exciting new development that will eventually include marinas, hotels and residential villas. Enjoy cocktails on the terrace at Shakespeare and Co., before sitting down for dinner in the shabby-chic dining room.
